From kindergarten to the French baccalaureate, our school welcomes children aged 2 to 18 in a joyful, respectful learning environment open to the world.
Rooted in nature, our pedagogy is inspired by the Montessori approach and places the child at the heart of the learning process. Small class sizes enable individualized attention, encouraging personal development, curiosity and creativity.
Teaching is in three languages - French, English and Spanish - offering students a truly trilingual immersion throughout their school career. We welcome local and international families for short- or long-term enrolments.

Grow up gently,
to the rhythm of nature
In our pre-school program, children aged 2 to 5 discover the world in French and Spanish, so they can blossom in harmony in Costa Rica.
In the heart of an inspiring natural environment, our educators gently guide toddlers, respecting their unique rhythms.
Each day is an adventure of sensory exploration, art, music and outdoor play.
Here, learning takes place in a “pura vida” atmosphere, where curiosity is celebrated and nature is an ally.
Evolving in three languages, in a caring environment
In primary school, children develop their reading, writing and speaking skills in French, while actively learning English and Spanish. Each week, they take two hours of English and Spanish classes, as well as social sciences taught in Spanish - for a truly trilingual immersion experience.
Thanks to attentive supervision, small classes and a stimulating natural environment, students progress at their own pace, while discovering the pleasure of learning. The pedagogical approach encourages creativity, cooperation and critical thinking.
Opening up to the world, becoming oneself
Starting secondary school marks the beginning of a new stage : that of independence, a more active social life and the desire to explore a wider world. At La Petite École, we accompany our students aged 12 to 18 through this transition with special attention and a reinforced teaching team.
The program combines CNED (French baccalaureate) teaching with the possibility of local certification via Educación Abierta exams, allowing flexibility adapted to each pathway.
At the same time, students continue to progress in a trilingual environment where French, English and Spanish coexist on a daily basis.
Beyond the classroom, students are encouraged to organize inter-school events, take part in excursions, artistic and cultural workshops, and get involved in community life. We believe that learning is also about taking action, creating and meeting new people.
Each student is supported in his or her personal and academic development, so that they can build a career path that reflects them, rich in meaning and open to the world.

Our children (6 and 9yo) spent 5 months at La p'tite école and just loved it! We usually leave in Austria and they are at a Montessori German speaking school. Arriving here last September we wanted them to learn Spanish (and not French) but we decided to support this little school at their start. There are children from different countries. The students are also learning cooking, gardening, practicing yoga twice a week in English and spending a lot of time outdoor discovering this beautiful nature! Now our kids already speak very very good Spanish. There is approx. a third of the time taught in Spanish (Spanish classes, sport, nature/environment ..etc). I highly recommend this Montessori-like school and again a special thank to Marie for the great time spent there and your commitment to make this school a place where the children can learn with fun, respect and responsibility!
